Liu Xiang exits the stadium amid consternation from the adoring Chnises in the stadium. and all over the world watching it live on TV.

If anything I give Liu Ziang top marks for making the appearance at the stadium and actually lining up. His withdrawal left the sold-out, hyped up Bird's Nest in stunned silence.

A letter from Kamiti Maximum Prison

Poetry by: Maik Kwambo

Baby girl,

The Afandes wake us at four. In the early morning. As the familiar rumble of guts. Negotiate the murky corridors. That smell of potent body odour. I’m thinking of bacon and eggs.

The scent of your sweet perfume.

But my thoughts are interrupted.

EXPECT BITTER FRUITS FOR SHOWING OFF

By Mburu Wang’ang’a

Pride comes before a fall, it was said. I am sure many people frankly speaking, would tell you the above proverb is one hundred percent correct out of what they have experienced as a result of pride. You might own plots, cars, estates, ships, aero planes and many other things but when you die, you get buried without any of those earthly treasures.  You leave them behind.

Usain ‘Lightening’ Bolt is the Man (9.69secs)

Usain Bolt - The man of the moment savours his victory and World record in style.

Usain ‘Lightening’ Bolt should be the name-9.69 a new World Record!  I have never seen a man run so devastatingly with such ease.  It is the limit of irony.  He destroyed a field of the best in the world and could have done 9.60secs easily if he had not shut down with 10m to go! Only one person, I can remember - a woman –did that.
